Music Curriculum

MUSIC CURRICULUM

At Lincoln Street School, Third, Fourth, and Fifth graders have one music class a week. Our goal in each music class is to connect students to music through singing, playing, moving, listening, creating, or writing music. Students learn about musical concepts through songs from different cultures, genres, and styles. The Orff method is used at all grade levels. Orff-style musical pedagogy teaches music through movement, improvisation, singing, and ensemble playing with various instruments.

INSTRUMENTS

Through the course of their three years at Lincoln Street School, each student will have the opportunity to play a wide variety of instruments, including guitar, ukulele, recorder, small percussion, barred instruments (xylophone, glockenspiel, and metallophone), large drums, and electric pian

The Beginning (first year) Band performs in one concert at the end of the year, and the Intermediate (second year) Band performs in two concerts during the school year.
